We’re thrilled to welcome two new master’s students to the Tringides lab — Elizabeth and Luthfia!
Elizabeth joins us from McAllen, Texas, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Business Administration from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and is now pursuing her Master’s in Materials Science and Nanoengineering at Rice. Her research interests focus on developing advanced biomedical devices and therapeutics that are low-cost, manufacturable, and accessible. As an undergraduate, she designed nanofibrous membranes for drug delivery applications through emulsion-based systems. Outside of the lab, Elizabeth enjoys gardening, hiking, and hosting movie marathons.
Luthfia is a Fulbright Scholar who joins us from Indonesia and is currently pursuing her Master’s in Bioengineering. Her research interests lie in biomaterials, tissue engineering, and regenerative medicine — fields at the heart of advancing biomedical innovation. Beyond research, she loves traveling, exploring new cuisines, and is currently learning tennis while staying committed to weightlifting.
We’re excited to have both Elizabeth and Luthfia join our team and can’t wait to see their creativity and enthusiasm enrich our group’s work. Welcome to the lab! 🎉
