We’re excited to welcome Angel De La Fuente Trevizo, a Rice University undergraduate from Dallas, TX, who is joining the Tringides Lab this summer as part of the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) program!

Angel is pursuing a major in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Neuroscience. He’s passionate about combining these fields to advance the research and development of neuromodulation-based treatments that are not only effective, but also affordable and accessible to wider patient populations. His interest in leveraging engineering tools to solve real-world neurological challenges aligns closely with the lab’s mission.

As a SURF fellow, Angel will be deeply involved in experimental design and hands-on research, gaining valuable experience in translational neuroengineering.

When he’s not in the lab or classroom, you can find Angel reading, rock climbing, or playing guitar—always exploring new ways to stay sharp, grounded, and creative.

Welcome, Angel! We’re looking forward to seeing your ideas and energy in action this summer.
